Ambassador's Biography

Ambassador Adnan Başağa was born in Bayburt in 1953. He graduated from Ankara University, Department of International Relations in 1979.

Ambassador Başağa began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979, at the Office of the Deputy Undersecretary for International Security Affairs. He served in the Consulate General in Hannover, Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations in New York as well as in the Turkish Embassies in Beirut, Cairo, Bonn and Berlin. He also served in different departments in the Ministry, namely the Cabinet of the Undersecretary, Department for NATO Political Affairs, Department for Turkish Citizens Living Abroad and Department for Bilateral Economic Affairs.

He was promoted to the rank of Ambassador in 2007 and served as the Ambassador of Turkey to the Republic of the Philippines between 2007 and 2010.

Between 2010 and 2013, Ambassador Başağa served as Director General for European Affairs and Director General for Strategy Development in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs respectively.

Since December 2013, he serves as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Finland.

Ambassador Başağa is married and has a son.
